Doctor, Darling

Today's book report is about this gem I picked up at a library book sale. Apparently the woman on the cover needed a court order to get a date. She looks normal. Oh my God, maybe she's an axe murderer!

To his dismay, Houston pediatrician Connor Malloy was about to find out. Stranded in a little Texas town, arrested on ridiculous charges, the broad-shouldered bachelor was “sentenced” by a courtroom full of Cupids to date no-men-no-matter- what Gillian Bates, and keep his “community service” a secret!

Trouble was, commitment-fearing Connor fell hard for the pretty, guy-shy single mom and her adorable son. He even fantasized about fatherhood and forever. But, drowning in deception and desire, how could Connor ever confess to Gillian that a jury of matchmakers had manipulated this miracle!

I bet Connor caught hell from the nursing staff when he got back to the hospital. “Oh yeah, we believe you were stranded in a little town by a bunch of crazy people that forced you to date some hot chick before they would let you go. Next time, call us back when we page you!”

I guess the only way to become a doctor in the “Land of Harlequin” is to be a sexy hunk with a masculine name. Have you noticed that all Harlequin doctors have broad shoulders? I guess no one wants to write a book about a scrawny doctor named Milton Harvey.

I'm partial to the nerds. Is that so wrong?? LMAO.... No seriously - give me a guy with a good brain, a sense of humor, and an interest in SOMETHING besides medicine (which, of course, they must have some sort of primary interest in...) and then you've found me my soul mate. :) (And in all honesty, I know a couple of guys like this, but...look at me, still sitting home single... *sigh*) LOL

Nice post - I've never read any of these books! hehe

People always described me as the girl with the great personality. That’s code for, “She’s homely.” As a late bloomer, I also have a soft spot in my heart for nerds. Give me a man with a brain, a giving heart, and a talent for cooking.

Don't worry, you'll find your soulmate. You're a good catch.

Haha thanks for the complement. Yes I've been described as having a great personality before, too. But then again, my high school friends and I were once asking each other one word to describe each other, and my friend Jon said, "Wacky." Then just a couple of months ago, this resident returned to our unit that had rotated through before. He was trying to figure out who was who, and my best friend from work, Amy, was pointing out people and saying their names...so she pointed to me and the resident said, "Oh I know Carrie...she's the crazy one."

How did I get these reputations??? LOL I'm really not all that crazy or wacky or really ever the center of attention. Maybe I'm quirky...I do like to laugh a lot and find all sorts of things to be amusing - if I can find the humor in a situation, it helps! But I don't go out, I don't drink, I don't even really have too many friends at work...! OK maybe the "crazy" label came because I tend to be very neurotic at work and will most definitely haul a resident's arse out of bed at 2am if my baby has a huge residual.... (although, I'm getting better about this!) And I definitely never let go of things when I know it's in the baby's best interest...I'll ask 100 times if that's what it takes.

Oh who knows...but I'm not giving up complete hope just yet...even though I've threatened to do just that a time or two in the past! I can't blog about this, but I'll leave the story here instead. I went out with this guy a few months ago who fits all the characteristics I mentioned above - great guy...we have a ton in common. We both went to the same university for undergrad and he went to med school at the same place I went for nursing school. We graduated high school the same year. He rotated through our unit once, too! We went out on 3 dates and both had a terrific time. However, I felt like I was bothering him because I called him all the time and he never called me. He had such minimal free time because he was an intern, and I guess he didn't want to spend that time talking on the phone....he was also painting his house, working on a boat, etc. So when I stopped calling him, I stopped hearing from him. I heard from him once when I was in Florida because I had left him a message shortly before that. Then I talked to him last week because I'd called him earlier in the day and left a message to see how he was. Then I emailed him yesterday morning I guess it was...no reply. So today I called, but didn't leave a message because I didn't want to seem like a nuisance. He saw the missed call and called my cell back, but I was out in my living room and didn't hear it. I came in here about a half hour ago and listened to the message - great! He was glad to hear from me and wanted to see how I was doing, etc - and here I was thinking that he didn't want to talk to me because he got my email and just decided to ignore me, but maybe he just hasn't read it. So now I have to try to sleep tonight and get through the day tomorrow and maybe I'll call him again at some point! BOYS! Sheesh....I resolved some time ago never to let a boy do this to me again...and here I am now getting all worked up! ARG!!!!

OK on that note...I'm going to try to get a little bit of sleep because tomorrow and Friday, I work 7a-7p and then 3-11 on Saturday and Sunday.....yippeeeeeeeee (not)

G'nite!
Carrie :)

I think we might be on to something. Maybe we could work together to write a
romance book about a blogging doctor. We could call it "Doctor Love Online."
You know, people make big money writing this kind of stuff. We could retire from nursing and have time to blog all day long:-)

Just an insane thought from someone who is suffering from the heat.
